New Year Fulfillment update
about 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 29, 2021 at 11:34:08 PM

Welcome Witch Masters!

2020 is finally over. It has been an exciting and terrible year at the same time.  and we are glad to leave it behind. Like most, if not all of you, we are looking forward to a better new year.

It is time for a short update with a recap about fulfillment and customer support.

Our fulfillment partners managed to ship all orders before the end of 2020. However, due to the delays in the logistic chain, some parcels might still be on their way to some of our less fortunate backers. Just yesterday we heard from some Canadian backers that their parcels had just been delivered. Brexit forced us to move most of our stock from the UK warehouse to an EU warehouse. The additional French border checks caused by Covid-19 and new regulations for the trucks waiting to cross into France hugely delayed this transfer of stock. Just a few days ago the stock was finally delivered to Germany and we will be able to ship EU parcels starting next week.

For the replacement service and post-sales customer support, we have 2 hubs: one in the EU and one in the US. The US hub will handle issues for North and South America, while the EU hub will take care of the rest of the world. We should be able to start processing mispacks starting next week and a few days later we will handle the factory related issues. We estimate to resolve all issues in February. We will handle mispack issues to Australia and Asia via Aetherworks and VFI if there is enough stock availability. Factory issues for Australian, Asian and RoW backers will be handled via the EU hub.

Last but not least, below is an update on the downloadable material.

Solo mode: the french edition of the solo mode is being handled by Legion Distribution and we should be able to upload it on our website in February.

Italian rulebook: The rules have already been translated and we are in the last step of the revision process. The pdf should be available in a couple of weeks.

Games on Tables!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 09, 2020 at 02:07:31 AM

Hello Heroes!

It has been very exciting seeing games hitting backer’s tables around the world. Some backers have even painted their miniatures already! If you’re interested in seeing completely painted scenery sets or a beautifully painted Executioner, check out the Beyond the Dark Gate Facebook group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1206318342752638

It’s a place for you to share your photos, painted minis, game bling, game play sessions and tips for Dark Rituals, The Order of Vampire Hunters and whatever is coming in the future.

People are commenting on BGG too. This is our favorite post so far:

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2554010/received-game-and-have-say-about-components-wow

It is hard to search Facebook for information, so please post your rules questions on BGG.

Jeff McAleer has his copy over at The Gaming Gang and he has set a record with the longest unboxing video ever:

https://thegaminggang.com/game-news/dark-rituals-malleus-maleficarum-unboxing-and-first-look/

Take a look. He goes into a great deal of detail!

We do have one more document to post, describing some of the stretch goal rules if the miniatures need more than just a simple card. It’s not quite ready yet but will not be long.

As everyone gets their pledges it is inevitable that there are a few issues. If you have an issue, please email:

The most important thing is for you to report problems quickly. We will try to fix missing and broken pieces as soon as possible. However, it’s hard for us to keep stock of parts, so please open, inspect, and report these problems as soon as you can. We would like to wrap this up by the end of January.

If you are contacting us about damage in transit, please take a picture of the outer shipping box showing the damage and pictures of the damage to the contents inside. A video would be just as good. Send us all the pictures, a description of the issue, your name, e-mail, current shipping address, and a copy of your packing slip if you have it.

Do not forget that many components are double-sided. A common request that support is getting goes like this, “I have that card, but this other card is missing”. Often the answer is “Turn that card over.” Please take a moment to look at all the components carefully.

Fulfillment Details
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 27, 2020 at 10:34:28 PM

Welcome Witch Masters!

Here’s a short update with more fulfillment information, posted to you as we get it from the hubs. Everything is going as expected. Do not forget that fulfillment is a multi-stage process with many steps done behind the scenes, hidden from you and us. Both Quartermaster and GamesQuest started work on our rewards on the 16th November as planned and we are in regular contact with them, monitoring progress.

Europe: GamesQuest have given us their packing order:

· Spanish.

· French.

· German.

· English.

· Mixed languages.

· Retailers and larger group orders.

They are underway, in fact all Spanish orders are already processed and we have seen some backers saying they have received tracking numbers. They look very organized, check the pictures on their Twitter and Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/GamesQuest/posts/2297626173695009

https://twitter.com/GamesQuest/status/1329809581128769536

The Americas: Quartermaster have given us a more detailed schedule. They are packing all backer reward boxes first and then starting pushing them out the door when this is done. Shipping is planned to begin on 30thNovember and they say they expect it to take 2-3 days to get all the boxes out of their warehouse, so all rewards should be moving in early December.

Canadian orders will be pre-packed and bulk shipped to Ontario for immediate processing and takes about 10 days from leaving the warehouse to arrive.

ROW will be shipped by USPS (International) and takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive depending on entry into the country and the capacity of each country's local post.

Other news - the Solo Rules have been sent for translation. Some will the ready in about a week, the others in about two weeks.

We failed to communicate a change to the cards when it occurred and some attentive backers have noticed the discrepancy. We announced black core and linen finishes as stretch goals during the campaign, as we thought this was the premier manufacturing option. It turns out card manufacturing is more complex than we thought.

First, black-core is indeed the premium interior material. It makes the card stiffer and gives it a nice snap. In fact, being stronger, it can be even thinner than grey-core or white-core and still be more resistant to bending and creasing. So if you are comparing our cards to others, do not assume they are lower quality just because they are thinner. We have used the thickest black-core that our manufacturer had.

We really like linen finish, but the samples that we got were not quite what we expected: it felt a little thin. Also the manufacturer recommended against it: we were warned that the tops of ridges would wear; the manufacturer said this is even more of a problem for black-core cards – the stiff cards do not flex and absorb any of the forces applied to them. We chose a smooth, but thicker, surface material for the larger cards. This was not an issue for the mini-cards as they are not subject to such large forces.

TL;DR. We planned to upgrade the cards to the best that we could. We did that, but we did not know what the best option was during the Kickstarter when we announced the stretch goals.

EU Shipping
over 3 years ago – Thu, Nov 19, 2020 at 08:29:59 PM

Hello Heroes!

There seems to be some confusion on when GamesQuest will start fulfillment. We previously reported that they would start on the 16th November (the day before yesterday). This is still the case. We think some backers saw some misinformation in their weekly blog, starting a conversation here. Let us reassure you this was a typo in their blog and they did indeed start working on our rewards as planned. As a result of us talking to them, they have updated the blog, so you can see it’s official:

https://www.shipquest.co.uk/blog/fulfilment-update-november-16th

Also, we have some new information from them:

  • They are ordering shipments by language. So if you see some backers or locales getting their copies and you have not, there is no immediate cause for concern. Sorry, but we do not know in what order the languages will actually ship. They use this process to minimize the chance of you getting a box in the wrong language.
  • They will be shipping large group orders and retail pledges at the end of the process. If you are expecting a large order, don’t panic.
  • GamesQuest have a range of different packaging options and we selected “Deluxe”, as it gives the best protection. We have a few pictures of boxes stuffed with rewards and air bags:

They expect to complete their end of the work in 10-12 working days.

                                                            *****

All good things must come to an end and the Kickstarter for our next game, Neo-Morphosis: Infestation, is no exception. The last 48 hours notice has been sent, so if you have not had a look at it yet, now might be a good time. Your mission in this fast-paced co-operative survival game will be to help the research team keep their station intact as mutating alien creatures run amok!

Two new Pledge Levels have been created to give backers deeper discounts. The Colony Pledge contains the core game and both of the larger expansions. The Almost All-In add-on bundles most of the smaller add-ons.

This is my favorite version of Nyx so far!

Fulfillment Dates
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 13, 2020 at 11:58:54 AM

Welcome Witch Masters!

We are back with another mini-update, with important dates for backers in the Americas and Europe.

Quartermaster is our hub in the US. They have confirmed that they are ready to begin fulfillment on 16th Nov. They will be shipping directly to Canada, but they will pre-pay all customs fees, so there will be no charge at the door. They will also handle South America, via USPS.

GamesQuest is the hub in Europe. By coincidence, they are also starting shipping on 16th Nov. It’s all happening soon!

VFI, our hub in Asia, have shipped everything from their warehouse, but it may not have all arrived with backers yet. In some of the countries they serve, VFI actually ships to an in-country hub, which minimizes customs fees.

It would not be a mini-update unless we mentioned a mini! Our Warden, Wolgar, is the first crossover mini in Ludus Magnus Studio’s new hit, Nova Aetas: Renaissance. Set in a fantasy Italian Renaissance, you will play a mythical campaign, based upon historical events of the war between Rome and Venice. In Nova Aetas: Renaissance, Wolgar is re-imagined as an Inquisitor, a fearsome soldier in the Pope’s army.
